The Embassy of Iceland in London was opened in 1940, being the second Icelandic Embassy after the establishment of the Icelandic Foreign Service earlier that year. The Embassy represents Iceland in the United Kingdom and is also accredited to Ireland and Malta.
There are fourteen Icelandic honorary consulates in these countries, including eleven in the United Kingdom. The Embassy is also a permanent Mission of Iceland to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in London.
The role of the Embassy is to protect the interests of Icelanders and to promote bilateral, political, economic and cultural links between Iceland and the above countries.
